EVENT 1
Motorized User Strategy Session:  Responsible OHV Recreation for Juneau

Do you enjoy motorized recreation? You are invited join motorized users in support of a City and Borough of Juneau’s Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) Park at 35 Mile Glacier Highway. This session will focus on developing Juneau-specific strategies for creating a positive future for responsible OHRV recreation. Special guests leading the strategy session include three nationally reputable motorized OHV advocates:

Dick Dufourd - Dick is the owner of Rec Connect LLC and is one of the top OHRV design authorities in the country. Dick is recognized internationally for his ability to engineer recreation facilities so that they provide outstanding recreation opportunities and experiences while protecting social and resource values. He has developed over 1,200 miles of OHRV trails including numerous trailheads, staging areas, play areas, and learner loops, which have been developed in rainforest and wet conditions on the Northwest Pacific coast in both Oregon and British Columbia.

Ron Potter – Ron has newly been brought on to the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Coalition (NOHVCC) staff to support training for OHRV Trail Construction and Management, based on his 37 years of experience in northern Minnesota, which similar to Juneau has a lot wet bogs and wetlands.

Karen Umphress – Karen is on NOHVCC’s staff and works nationally as a motorized advocate, sharing tools for responsible OHRV trail and park development and management.

You’ll learn more about the proposed Juneau OHV park, and more about what the motorized community can do to move forward responsible, sustainable OHV trails in the Juneau area. Public Meeting regarding the Proposed City and Borough of Juneau Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) Park at 35 Mile Glacier Highway
with special guests from the National-Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC)<http://www.nohvcc.org/>
Thursday June 20, 2013  ●  6:00 pm to 7:30 pm ●  Juneau Assembly Chambers, Municipal Building, 155 South Seward Street

Come hear more about a proposed Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) Park at 35 Mile Glacier Highway, and learn about a national movement toward responsible motorized OHRV trail and park development and management.
Nationally recognized speakers from the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Coalition (NOHVCC) will be in Juneau for this one-time event to help the City and Borough of Juneau learn more about what it takes to protect social and resource values while providing motorized recreation opportunities on public land.

These events will be facilitated by USKH,  a consultant hired by the City and Borough of Juneau to support land assessment and planning services for an Off Highway Vehicle Park at 35 Mile Glacier Highway.
